The most beautiful aspect of the Maltese Islands is the vast variety of fun activities that you can enjoy whilst visiting. From ancient cities to blue waters and raging clubs to fine Maltese cuisine there’s something for everyone.

If you like History:

Visit the ancient cities of Mdina or Valletta.

Just one bus ride away from the Alexandra Hotel are the ancient fortified cities of Mdina and Valletta. Mdina dates to the 8th century BC and is steeped in Maltese History. Whilst Valletta isn’t as old (founded in 1566) it is no less impressive and inboth cities you can visit museums and interactive experiences to learn more about the island’s turbulent history.

If you like the beach:

Hop on the bus and head north – with beaches scattering the north edge of the island (Ghadira, Ghajn Tuffieha and Gnejna – to mention a few) it’s a sun worshippers paradise. Umbrellas and sunbeds are easily rented from any of the major beaches but head there early to avoid disappointment and don’t forget the sunscreen.

If you’re a party animal:

The club village of Gianpula and Numero uno night club host regular parties and club nights. Buses don’t run late to both clubs so a taxi is your best bet – there are taxi stands outside both venues. If you prefer to party during the day visit one of Malta’s beach clubs who host several parties throughout the week and at the weekend.

If you’re a foodie:

Try some of the traditional Maltese Cuisine – the Maltese Islands boast beautiful fresh sea food and the national dish of Rabbit stew is a must-try. The area of St. Julians just outside your hotel is a foodies dream with everything from traditional Maltese food, incredible seafood, sushi , Mediterranean tavernas and even Asian fusion available on your doorstep.

If you’re a shopaholic:

Walk down to the Baystreet complex or catch a bus to Sliema and visit The Point Shopping Mall to burn some cash and buy yourself some treats. If you’re after a more high end experience, head round the corner to the Sarto Boutique and spoil yourself.
